EXO’s D.O. Will Be Enlisting In July, SM Entertaiment Confirms

Multiple industry sources conirmed that EXO member D.O. (26) will be enlisting in the military this July 1, Sports Chosun reported on May 30.

SM Entertainment confirmed this not long after the report, "EXO’s D.O. ......received the notice for his July 1 enlistment date today."

The EXO member, born in 1993, was able to delay his enlistment until the age of 28, or until 2021.However, industry insiders revealed that after seeing ’s recent enlistmentas, first among EXO member, D.O. himself wanted to do the same thing as soon as possible. He will be the second EXO member to enlist following Xiumin.


Following is SM Entertainment’s statement:

EXO’s D.O. is enlisting in July. D.O. applied to serve in the military and received the notice for his July 1 enlistment date today, and is planning to faithfully serve as an active duty soldier.

With Xiumin’s enlistment on May 7 and with the process of military enlistments now starting for EXO, D.O. expressed his will to fulfill his military duties as soon as possible and applied after fully discussing it with the agency and his members. He hopes to enlist quietly, so we will respect his wishes and not reveal the time and location of his enlistment as well as hold any separate events on the day [of his enlistment].

EXO’s D.O. Writes A Handwritten Letter To His Fans 

D.O. wrote a handwritten letter to his fans on their official fancafe regarding his enlistment and vowed to return safely and healthily after fulfilling his duties.

Hello. This is EXO’s D.O. 

EXO-L, you were probably surprised by the sudden news, right? 

I wanted to be the first one to tell you but I’m saddened that I was a little late. I’m writing this letter because I wanted to tell you that as much as this decision was made after a long time of deliberation, I will return safely after fulfilling my duties successfully. 

I sincerely thank our EXO-Ls who always support us, and I wish everyone would always be full of laughter and healthy. 

I will greet you again after I return safely and healthily.
