'Produce X 101' Votes Were Rigged, Police Confirm

The police investigation over suspicions about manipulation of voters in the idol audition program 'Produce X 101' (Produce X) confirmed that the final rankings of some trainees who belonged to the debut group and the dropout have been reversed.

According to report from "No Cut News" on Augst 1, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's cyber investigation team found out that the final votes of some trainees were actually among the dropouts among the eleven selected as debut groups. Two to three trainees were relegated from the dropout to their debut group.

The police reported that there were virtually no voter manipulations in the rankings, and they accused crew members such as PD in charge of interrupting their work. In addition, it is investigating whether the money transaction between the crew and the trainee's agency went over the operation of the vote.

The police also confiscated each agency of the group's X1 members who made their debut in August and were included in the top 11 finalists.

Earlier, viewers raised suspicion of manipulating voters as the result of paid text votes in the final live contest of 'Produce X' dropped out of the trainees who were identified as the leading debut runners, and unexpected figures were included in the debut group.

In addition, the controversy arose as the final votes of the trainees from 1st to 20th were all multiplied by a certain number of '7494.442'. Fans called for the fact-finding, and in politics, even the right future party lawmaker Ha Tae-kyung, criticized Mnet.

Police commissioned an investigation from Mnet in July and seized the CJ ENM office and text voting data archives. We also found a recorded file on the crew's phone that mentions voting directly.

As suspicions spread to other seasons, police investigations have now expanded to the full range of 'Produce'. Mnet's other audition program, Idol School, has also been targeted by police for alleged voter manipulation.

A police official said, "We are looking into whether there was any unfair part in the seasons 1 ~ 3, which were broadcast before (Four Season 4) PDU X." "We have the necessary data and are analyzing it."

The top 11 finalists of the 'Produce X' made their official debut on August 27 with Group X1. However, the police's investigation reveals a change in rankings and the number of voters manipulated.

In the meantime, the crew who said, "There was an error in the process of counting and delivering the votes, but there is no change in the final rankings," and the crew could not be free from criticism of 'false explanation'.
